WORKING HOURS 2-week rotation basis: 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., or 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Some weekend, on-call and holiday shifts.
JOB SUMMARY:
As a vital member of our treatment team, this role will involve conducting comprehensive assessments and delivering treatment services within the eight (8)-week inpatient treatment program.
The successful candidate will possess considerable knowledge of Best Practices and Standards in substance use disorders and concurrent disorders, enhancing treatment outcomes. The Treatment Counsellor will promote person-centered care and incorporate traditional and cultural practices into the healing plans of our Relatives In Recovery.
This role demands expertise in counselling and therapy techniques, group facilitation, assessments, treatment planning, and evaluation. Strong human relations skills are essential to guide, influence, and motivate others in achieving the Lodge’s goals. A deep understanding of Indigenous healing methods is crucial to promote culture as the foundation of healing and recovery.
This position is considered a safety-sensitive position involving direct contact with Relatives In Recovery attending a residential treatment program, and therefore, we must encourage applicants be an abstainer from any mood-altering drugs, cannabis and alcohol for a minimum of two (2) years.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Degree in Social Work, diploma in counselling, or related field preferred.
- Combination of relevant training and experience considered.
- Strong emotional intelligence, empathy, self-awareness, and the ability to build trust with Relatives In Recovery.
- Must possess a minimum Class 5 driving license and be willing to obtain a Class 4 license.
- Clear Criminal Record and Vulnerable Persons Check and Adult Abuse Checks (within the last 6 months) is required.
- Basic knowledge of MS Office programs or willingness to learn.
- Strong ability to maintain confidentiality and abide by a Code of Conduct that ensures safety for all.
