WORKING HOURS: Monday to Friday 8:30 am – 4:30 pm and 1:00 – 9:00 pm; alternate shifts on weekends, holidays, and on-call.
JOB SUMMARY:
The Recovery Coach empowers individuals as they prepare to enter the Nelson House Medicine Lodge’s eight (8)-week residential treatment program and provides ongoing aftercare support to ensure continuity of services following program completion.
The Recovery Coach will assist Relatives In Recovery on their journey to recovery by providing guidance, support, and resources tailored to their goals. The Recovery Coach will use a strengths-based approach to help Relatives In Recovery build resilience, develop life skills, and connecting them with their community services. This role focuses on fostering hope, promoting self-advocacy, and supporting long-term wellness in a collaborative, non-judgmental environment.
This position requires human relations skills needed to guide, influence and motivate others to make positive healthy lifestyle changes. They will promote mitho pimatisiwin through role modeling abstinence from drugs and alcohol and demonstrate positive lifestyle choices for a minimum of one (1) year; as well as how to identify, understand, and overcome personal problems associated with substance abuse and other addictive behaviors.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Completion of a one-year relevant certificate or diploma, with addictions training preferred; or any combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, abilities, skills and competencies.
