WORKING HOURS: Rotational shifts- evenings, weekends & on-call.

POSTION SUMMARY:

This position is an integral part of the treatment and prevention teams that provides residential treatment services for adults struggling with substance dependency and concurrent disorders that impact them in different life areas. Their primary function is to provide assistance in collecting data for the Treatment Counsellors in their assessments and treatment plans. The Recovery Coach will assist Relatives in Recovery who are waiting to enter the NHML’s eight (8) week, inpatient treatment program, and provide continuity of care post-treatment. *For a complete job description, inquire within.

QUALIFICATIONS:

This position requires knowledge of various counselling techniques, group facilitation and presentation skills, assessments, treatment planning and evaluation. Human relations skills are needed to guide, influence, and motivate others to attain the Center’s goals and objectives. Must have clear Criminal Records Check (within the last 6 months); Must have a good understanding of Indigenous ways of healing that allows the promotion of culture as the foundation to their healing and recovery; Must have basic knowledge of MS programs such as Word, PowerPoint, Publisher, Outlook and Excel, or willingness to obtain; Demonstrate good time management and organizational skills; Must have strong work ethic and ensure confidentiality of employees and clients; Certified in First Aid and CPR or willing to obtain; and possess a minimum valid Class 5 Driver’s License and / or willing to obtain a Class 4 License. All applicants must provide an Adult Abuse Registry, Criminal Record / Vulnerable Persons Checks, and sign an Oath of Confidentiality.

Due to the nature of the program, the Treatment Counsellor must have at least two full years of abstinence, free of all substances.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Graduate from a recognized college or university with a degree or certificate in Social Work, counselling, or related field preferred; or any combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, abilities, skills, and competencies. Employer is willing to train candidates who do not have the education but demonstrate passion and the ambition to work in this field.
